Waste Water Treatment Plant

On January 16, 2007 construction of our new waste water treatment plant began. Phase I includes the treatment facility and the first lines. The scheduled completion date for Phase I is October 1, 2007. There have been numerous questions concerning this project and the City Council held two Public informational meetings on February 8, 2007 and February 9, 2007. The purpose of the meetings was for the council to explain to the citizens of Elephant Butte what they can expect, for the citizens to voice their concerns and for the Council to answer any questions. Julie Samora of Samora and Associates gave a presentation that explained costs associated with the operation of a Waste water treatment facility and what the possible fees and charges will be.

Approved Fee Schedule

July 18th, 2007 the City Council of Elephant Butte passed Resolution No. 07-08-170 , a resolution establishing fees for customers of the Sierra County Regional Wastewater System. The fees set in this resolution include Administrative fee, Deposit, Monthly charges, the System Development fee (commonly referred to as the "Capacity Fee") and Returned check fee for both commercial and residential properties.
